I had the honour of attending and speaking at the opening of Minhaj-ul-Quran International’s new centre in Rutherglen yesterday.
It’s just behind the shopping centre, so there’s no excuse for being out shopping there and missing prayers again.
It’s an existing building which has been very impressively redone from the inside. At the centre of the prayer hall is a magnificently inserted dome structure which is made up of modern and traditional Islamic art and calligraphy (pictured).
More important than the building though, I was very happy to meet more of the impressive individuals involved in the centre and the organisation, and there are many areas that we can look to work together on.
The three hour ceremony was packed out and over capacity with 500-600 people there. I pray that the mosque goes from strength to strength and is a beacon of light in the community, bringing people together.
