SIF provided four players to the Interfaith XI that took on Scottish Parliamentarians today.
Noman Tahir and Humza Yousaf were joined by our two American guests from CAIR, Ahmed Rehab and Yaser Tabbara.
Ahmed was was deplyed at full-back and was full of running up and down the touchline. Yaser did a good job in central defence.
Noman and Humza seemed to spend most of their time standing around the centre circle. Despite this, Noman actually grabbed a brace, in the Interfaith XI’s narrow 4-3 defeat, while Humza scored a freekick which apparently he didn’t mean.
Noman also had a goal chopped off (harshly) for offside.
The MSPs started brightly, and had the advantage of having played together before. They raced into a commanding 3-0 lead, but faded badly. Another 10 minutes might have yielded a quite different result.
There was a heavy media interest in the match, with cameras dotted all over the pitch. They were hoping to catch some heated excahnges after the well-documented spat with Chick Young recently.
I only saw a bit of a chop on Humza by Frank McAveety.
